If you are visiting Encinitas, CA, this winter then you will be glad that there will be new sand that is coming to the beach after officials have continued to lobby for it. The former president passed a bill with the water resources development department that includes funding for a 50-year sand replenishment that is aimed to curb the erosion that has been happening along the beaches in Encinitas. The project will be overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who will oversee it, but they have not started work on the project just yet. The mayor of the town said that they are trying to get the project started as soon as possible, and meetings in December are pushing for the project. Over five decades this project will create more than 35 new acres of beach which will have a new placement of 340,000 cubic yards of new sand and there will be additional sand added. If you have been to Encinitas before and visited the beach, this will be a drastic change and upgrade for the sand at the beach. Luckily, there will also be sand added to another beach, Solana Beach, as well. Be sure to visit these beaches and check out all the new sand when you are in the area the next time! Encinitas and Solana Beach officials lobbied in Washington DC for the sand.
